About

I'm Aakash Kumar, a computer engineering student at Boston University (Class of 2027) with a concentration in machine learning. I work at the intersection of ML research, robotics, and systems engineering.
This fall, I'm joining the Robomorphic Computing Lab under Prof. Neuman, exploring hardware acceleration for machine learning workloads. I'm also the president of BU Mars Rover, where we design, build, and compete with autonomous robotic systems. This summer I'll be an SDE intern at Amazon Lab126 working on embedded and consumer technology.
I'm interested in problems that sit between multiple domains — where novel ML approaches meet real systems and hardware constraints. My current focus areas include reinforcement learning, game AI (MCTS, AlphaZero-style search), neural radiance fields, and hardware acceleration for ML inference.
When I'm not building, I like to write about the things I learn, partly to understand them better and partly because I think a lot of these topics deserve clearer explanations than they typically get.
